Admission
Admission is by lottery, as Florida law requires, the SAS Foundation’s apply page says. Each child needs a separate application, there is no cost to apply, and applications stay on file for three years. Siblings of current students and children of staff get priority for openings. The kindergarten lottery is held in early March; applications must be in by 11:59 p.m. March 1. The school has room for 450 students and says its lottery pool tops 1,200.
Classes are multi-age (K-1, 2-3, 4-5 and a 6-8 middle school), each led by two certified teachers, with a project-based curriculum built on the arts and sciences, according to the SAS Foundation.
Leon County Schools says charter schools are schools of choice and that families should contact the school directly; its charter schools page links all four Leon County charters.
