Where Tallahassee and Leon County publish legal notices: the county's designated notice website, the statewide newspaper notice site, agendas and sales.

Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. This page is an index, not the official publication of any notice. The legal notice is the one on the government’s designated website or in the newspaper. Facts come from Leon County’s public notice site and Chapter 50, Florida Statutes.

Florida lets cities and counties publish legal notices on a county-designated website instead of in a newspaper, under Section 50.0311 of state law. Leon County has one, and the City of Tallahassee uses it. Notices that still run in a newspaper must also go on a free statewide site.

What the law says

Under Section 50.0311, a county’s “publicly accessible website” is its official website or another website it designates for legal notices. A local government may use it when that costs less than a newspaper, must link to the notices from its home page, and must tell residents at least once a year, in a newspaper or a mailed publication, that they can register to get notices by mail or email. Section 50.0211 requires newspapers that print a legal notice to post it on floridapublicnotices.com.
