When

The 2027 dates are set; the hours and the weekend program had not been posted as of Oct. 10. The festival says its site is being updated for 2027 and posts news first on its social media.

Last year’s schedule (April 2026), for planning:

  • Saturday, April 18, 2026: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a puppet and music procession at 2:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 19, 2026: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with award winners announced at 10 a.m.

For 2027 the festival plans a Saturday 2:30 p.m. procession of giant puppets and masks by local artists Linda Hall and Doug Schrock, and a Sunday 2:30 p.m. procession led by the Rickards High School Marching Raider Band. The “Garden Guardian” upcycled sculpture exhibit opens early in LeMoyne’s gardens, March 16 to April 16, then moves to the festival for a silent auction. A kickoff event with FSU’s Opening Nights series is to be announced.

Where

Bloxham, Lewis and Randolph parks, part of the Park Avenue Chain of Parks downtown. The festival posts a site map each year.

Parking and shuttles

From the festival’s parking page:

  • Kleman Plaza Garage and Eastside Garage: $5 event parking, with a free shuttle. Kleman Plaza riders are dropped at Monroe Street and East Park Avenue, near the Community Corner; Eastside Garage riders on Calhoun Street behind the main stage.
  • Cascades Garage: a short walk; no shuttle.
  • Street meters: free all weekend, except meters with red bags, where cars are towed.
  • Accessible parking: on South Gadsden Street at meters with blue bags. Show your placard to the Tallahassee police officer at the barricade. Email ChainofParks@lemoyne.org at least 72 hours ahead for other accommodations.

The parking page is dated Aug. 24, 2024; check it again in the spring for 2027 changes.

What to know

  • Dogs are welcome on a tight leash but not inside artists’ booths; owners pay for any damage, per the pet policy. Bring water; the festival puts out a few shared bowls.
  • Rain or shine, unless public safety is at risk, per the weather page. In a lightning warning, shelter in a building or car, not a tent or under a tree.
  • Heat: the festival suggests sunscreen, a refillable water bottle and a hand fan.
  • Also on site: a Children’s Park and the Chalk Art Oasis.

The festival began in 2001 with about 50 local and regional artists, and Sunshine Artist magazine has ranked it the No. 5 fine art festival in the nation and No. 1 in Florida, the festival says. Two weeks earlier, the same downtown parks host Springtime Tallahassee. More ideas: things to do and the Railroad Square Art District.
